Temporary Research Fellow

About the role

Biology has an opportunity for a temporary, part-time, one-year contract research fellow to continue and accelerate the development of a therapy to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) disease in the Smaldino lab at BSU.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Drive independent molecular research
• Lead daily laboratory operations
• Bridge scientific discovery and administrative oversight by executing techniques like qPCR, cell culture, mouse work, next-generation sequencing, managing lab ordering, and maintaining regulatory compliance
• Serve as a critical leader who mentors junior students and staff
• Write peer-reviewed manuscripts
• Optimize protocols to keep the lab running efficiently

Minimum Requirements

• MS in cell biology, molecular biology or biotechnology
