About the role
The selected candidate will conduct research focused on the development of novel gene drive systems for suppression of the New World screwworm. Responsibilities include designing, planning, conducting, and interpreting molecular genetics experiments in collaboration with Dr. Scott. The individual will work closely with members of the screwworm gene drive research team, including Dr. Yadav and Ms. Belikoff, to support project objectives and meet established monthly milestones. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate laboratory records and ensuring compliance with all laboratory safety and containment protocols related to gene drive insects.
Requirements and Preferences
- Minimum Experience/Education: Relevant Master’s degree, or Relevant Bachelor’s and 3 or more years of relevant experience, relevant independent experience and education
- Department Required Skills: Must be able to work with insects, perform standard molecular biology tasks.
- Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education: PhD with postdoctoral work experience, Experience in gene cloning, PCR, insect rearing and embryo microinjection
- Required License or Certification: Valid driver’s license
- Valid NC Driver's License required? Yes
