Temporary Production Worker (Mon-Fri 7a-3:30p)

About the role
nLIGHT has 1 temporary Manufacturing Specialist position available at our Vancouver location. This temporary role lasts 6 months and includes a limited benefits package. It offers an excellent opportunity to gain industry experience and potentially secure a long-term position.
As part of a manufacturing team, you will produce high-powered lasers through hands-on production tasks such as electromechanical assembly, optical fiber splicing, microscope inspection, electrical test equipment operation, laser operation, and parts cleaning. This role provides on-the-job training to develop specialized skills in small part assembly, optical fiber handling, and precision inspection.
Responsibilities
- Learn and perform electromechanical assembly operations
- Operate test equipment and use manual/electronic tools for mechanical and optical assembly
- Enter production data into a computer-based system
- Contribute as a valued team member
- Perform various production tasks, which may include working in a clean room environment, wearing clean room garments, using a microscope, handling solvents, and working with tools
- Engage in production activities according to documented work instructions and standards
- Identify and report irregularities that do not comply with work instructions
- Ensure work is completed safely and complies with all safety standards
- Regularly check equipment to ensure normal operating activity
- Engage in basic troubleshooting
Requirements
- Ability to work assigned shift with or without a reasonable accommodation

- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for an 8-to-12-hour shift and lift up to 15 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Ability to frequently use hands for repetitive actions of simple and firm grasping

Schedule
Day Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Pay
- Manufacturing Specialist I: starts at $19.20 per hour
- Manufacturing Specialist II: starts at $20.35 per hour
- Manufacturing Specialist III: starts at $21.57 per hour
- Manufacturing Specialist IV: starts at $22.93 per hour
Shift differentials: 10% for hours worked between 5:30 PM and 12:00 AM, 15% for hours worked between 12:00 AM and 5:30 AM.
