Temporary Pool--Facility Maintenance Technician
About the role
The Department of Housing and Residence Life is responsible for coordinating the renovation, maintenance and management of several categories of facilities, all designed to provide on-campus housing for over 1600 students. The department has an administrative unit that orchestrates daily operations, student services, financial records, personnel matters, facility enhancement, safety and emergency management. The residence halls are divided into multiple living learning communities, all designed to integrate academics and out-of-class learning through a series of programs and activities.
This position is considered essential personnel within the Department of Housing and Residence Life. Temporary positions can be full-time/part-time. Each is position-specific. Weekly scheduled days and work hours will vary and may include weekends and evenings. Advance notice of schedules will be provided. This position requires a valid driver’s license. Selected applicants must have and maintain an acceptable driving record, preferably five or more years of driving experience with no more than one minor at fault accident or violation in the past three years.
Responsibilities
- Work Order Control – Accurately maintain work requests submitted. Ensure that all maintenance is completed accordingly.
- Project Management – Receive and complete projects with little to no supervision beyond the basic instruction.
- Preventive Maintenance – Effectively perform preventive maintenance on all plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Air Conditioning Repair and Troubleshooting – Make repairs, troubleshoot, and maintain various air conditioning systems in the residence halls and apartments.
- Plumbing – Repair, replace, and troubleshoot various plumbing systems.
- Electrical – Repair, replace, and troubleshoot various electrical systems.
- Miscellaneous Task Management – Maintain a multi-faceted and flexible task management system that allows for constant change.
Requirements
- Completion of grammar school and three years of progressive experience in the performance of tasks associated with a variety of mechanical or building trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of general procedures of applicable trades/maintenance techniques and develop skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment appropriate to trade.
