Temporary Permanent Substitute Teacher 2026-2026

Reports to: Building Principal, Assistant Principal, Dean of Students. FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt. Classified position, 183-day work calendar, 7.5 hours per day.

Pay

$17.47/hr without license or degree; $23.99/hr with license or degree.

Responsibilities

• Report to supervisor for daily assignment and follow all school rules, procedures, and district policies.
• Maintain professional attire and demeanor at all times, appropriate to the teaching assignment for the day.
• Assume the duties and roles of the regular classroom teacher, including supervision and management of the classroom and student discipline.
• Supervise students outside of the classroom during the school day as directed by administration.
• Implement lesson plans left by the teacher to maximize academic time and motivate student engagement.
• Assign tasks and homework according to the daily lesson plan provided.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity level and interests of students.
• Take all precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Foster a safe and positive classroom environment with constant student supervision to ensure health, welfare, and safety.
• Report injuries, accidents, and issues to administration.
• Serve as a permanent substitute teacher in a single classroom or larger space with multiple classes, depending on need.

Qualifications

• Possess a Substitute Teacher Permit issued by the Indiana Department of Education or hold a valid Indiana Teaching License.
• Prior experience working with students desired.
• A degree from higher education is preferred but not required.
• Must meet all Clark-Pleasant employee eligibility criteria.
