Temporary Marketing Assistant
The CLASIC (Computational Linguistics, Analytics, Search and Informatics) program at CU Boulder is seeking a Temporary Marketing Assistant to support program growth and visibility. This role focuses on building relationships with local industry partners, identifying internship opportunities for students, and promoting the program to prospective students.
About the Program
The Departments of Linguistics and Computer Science at CU Boulder offer the first truly interdisciplinary professional master's in computational linguistics. The CLASIC (Computational Linguistics, Analytics, Search and Informatics) professional master’s degree prepares students for careers in Natural Language Processing (NLP), emphasizing equal study in Computer Science and Linguistics. CU Boulder’s approach ensures computational linguists understand both the algorithms modeling language and the nuances of language itself.
Responsibilities
- Attend monthly Boulder AI meetups to identify relevant talks for CLASIC students and local businesses that may offer or develop internship opportunities.
- Establish contacts with local businesses to identify and help develop internship opportunities for CLASIC students.
- Develop informational materials about CLASIC and collaborate with other CU departments (e.g., CS, Data Science, Info Science) to promote the program to undergraduate students through classroom visits, events, and discussions about existing bachelor's-to-master's (BAM) pathways.
- Maintain and update CLASIC social media posts.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1+ years of professional, job-related experience.
- Marketing experience, including a basic understanding of marketing principles and digital marketing tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. or equivalent experience in computer science, NLP, or AI-related field.
- Graduate of the CLASIC program.
- Experience in an industry internship.
- Familiarity with the CLASIC program.
- Experience identifying and promoting internship opportunities and collaborating with employers to create internship opportunities for students.
Schedule
This is a part-time, temporary role anticipated to last the academic school year. The position typically requires 5 hours per week, though hours may vary depending on the time of year and team needs. On-campus work will be required as needed.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $25–$30 per hour.
