Temporary Maintenance Assistant

About the role

The City of Kodiak Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for temporary Maintenance Assistants. The Department is looking for an experienced team player that has a desire to be a part of a progressive Parks and Recreation Department working hard to serve the needs of our community. Employee is responsible for performing a variety of unskilled and some semi-skilled maintenance activities under direction of more experienced personnel.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance duties on applicable facilities, tools, and equipment under direction of supervisory personnel, which may include lawn maintenance, digging, loading/unloading materials, and related duties
• Provides routine assistance to skilled staff with repairs and maintenance activities as assigned
• Operates light equipment and vehicles and performs routine maintenance activities as necessary
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must have achieved a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED)
• Prefer up to one year of general construction or labor experience
• Valid drivers license required
