Temporary Maintenance Assistant

About the Role

Willow Branch Health and Rehab is seeking a temporary Maintenance Assistant to help maintain our long-term care facility. This role ensures the facility grounds are properly maintained in accordance with facility policies and state and federal regulations, and manages the residential work order system. You will report to the Maintenance Director.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the overall maintenance operation of the facility.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment and supplies.
• Follow established safety rules, policies, and procedures of the maintenance department.
• Be on call for some evenings and weekends.
• Maintain the building in good repair and keep it free of hazards (e.g., electrical, plumbing, heating, and cooling systems).
• Ensure the building complies with Federal, State, and Local codes and laws.
• Coordinate maintenance work with other departments.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair work, such as painting, minor carpentry, changing light bulbs, and other tasks.
• Keep the grounds neat by mowing, trimming grass, bushes, and trees; picking up leaves and litter; clearing sidewalks; and addressing erosion.
• Keep work areas and storage rooms neat and orderly.
• Wash windows and screens outside of the building.
• Complete other special projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Background in maintenance work.
• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent related work experience).
• Ability and experience operating equipment such as lawn mowers, weed eaters, blowers, edgers, pressure washers, and chainsaws.
• Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of elderly or disabled residents.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

• Work environment: Indoor and outdoor.
• Moderate physical activity: Push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 75 pounds to a height of 3 feet, and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
• Stand and/or walk for more than 4 hours per day.
• Bend and/or stoop for more than 1 hour at a time.
