About the role
Bayfield School District is seeking a full-time Maintenance Assistant to maintain the physical school building in a condition of operating excellence.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for completion of work orders.
- Responsible for completion of scheduled maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment.
- Performs plumbing and minor electrical repairs.
- Aid Director of Maintenance in planning and coordinating contracted plumbing, electrical, and carpentry, large cost work orders and repairs.
- Possess good working knowledge of electric circuitry and devices.
- Must have a good working knowledge of gas boilers, gas furnaces, electric and all related controls.
- Assist in opening buildings as sub for other maintenance personnel when directed.
- Aid with snow removal.
- Purchase materials and parts for repairs and work.
- Clean up areas affected by repair work.
- Report immediately to the Principal any damage to school property.
- Moves furniture or equipment within buildings, if required, and upon direction of the Building Principal.
- Complies with local laws and procedures for the disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
- Takes part in training updates as directed.
- On-call for emergency repairs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Submit fingerprints for a criminal background check.
- Completed and submitted BSD on-line application.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
- Must be able to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and frequently required to walk and must be able to stand up frequently.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must be able to hear the difference between bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc.
- The employee frequently communicates through speech.
Salary
SALARY $16.65- $20.15/ hour. Per the Bayfield School District maintenance salary schedule based on years of experience.
