About the role
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level 3 NICU with 49-bed unit for newborns born prematurely, needing specialized treatment, or being sick. An in-house neonatologist is available around the clock to provide the most advanced evidence-based care for our tiniest population. Babies in the NICU are cared for in state-of-the-art Giraffe OmniBeds, which are specialized isolettes and infant warmers all-in-one, reducing the stress on the baby. We take babies from 23(ish) weeks gestation to post-term babies.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive nursing services to newborn, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, including their families/caregivers.
- Works under RN license and must have 1.5-2 years NICU experience to apply.
- Participates in neonatal transport team, bringing infants with serious illnesses, injuries, or complications to Renown Children's Hospital from outlying communities within a 200-mile radius of Reno.
Requirements
- Registered Nursing licensure in the State of Nevada.
- Current BLS certification by The American Heart Association.
- Current ACLS certification by The American Heart Association.
- Current PALS certification by The American Heart Association.
- ENLS (Emergency Neuro Life Support) certification.
- ENPC or PALS certification.
- TNCC certification.
- OCN certification preferred.
- RNFA certification.
Qualifications
- Education: Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Appropriate education to obtain and maintain Registered Nursing licensure in the State of Nevada.
- Experience: At least 3-4 years of experience working under RN license is required. 3 years of experience working in a level 3 NICU or higher preferred.
