Responsibilities
- Carefully coordinates and develops patient care utilizing the Nursing Process.
- Fulfills the role of supervisor and mentor for non-RN team members.
- Serves as a resource for both staff and management in problem identification and resolution.
- Organizes patient flow, greets patients, documents concerns, and accompanies patients to exam/procedure rooms.
- Conducts initial patient interviews, reviews medical profiles, H&P, and documents in EMR/manual charts.
- Collects and accurately documents patient vital signs, weight, and reports any abnormalities to the physician.
- Aids in specimen collection and testing as required.
- Assists patients with tasks such as walking, transferring, and dressing.
- Provides minor treatments and assists physicians with minor procedures.
- Documents all patient-related activities as necessary.
- Schedules patient testing and pre-certifies insurance requirements as needed.
- Answers telephone messages from patients and physician offices.
- End-of-month checks for expired supplies and medications, stocks rooms, maintains inventory, and cleans exam/procedure rooms.
- Prepares exam/procedure rooms for next patients and physicians' needs.
- Notifies patients of test results and follows up as instructed by the physician.
- Attends scheduled staff meetings, in-service education opportunities, and participates in continuing education programs.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid license as Registered Nurse in CT.
- BLS Certification.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar position.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
