Responsibilities

As a Transportation Coordinator, you are responsible for handling the day-to-day execution of the transportation department. A coordinator works with internal (DC, Home Office, Store Operations, and Field Leadership) and external (carriers, 3PLs) partners to monitor shipments and expedite the efficient movement of TJX merchandise.

  • Support execution of outbound trailer movement (crossdock and store deliveries), ensuring accurate shipping plans and schedules, including transportation optimization, and return logistics
  • Consistently deliver operational performance against established KPIs and follow up with carriers on exception
  • Execute plans to follow up on performance
  • Monitor trailers in-transit and escalate late arrivals
  • Execute against Peak Season plans/strategies to support the challenging needs of the business
  • Support Transportation Manager/Supervisor in yard staffing, scheduling, and usage as well as in supporting the building with all inbound and outbound transportation responsibilities
  • Interact with Field Leadership, Store Operations, Loss Prevention, and Transportation providers to ensure overall execution of TJX service/standards
  • Plan and communicate the truck capacity requirements and ensure an adequate supply of truck power and trailers
  • Ensure outbound movements are executed in a timely manner to hit on-time delivery metrics
  • Partner with Shipping teams to ensure proper loading and damage practices are followed
  • Provides guidance and/or training to other peer Transportation Coordinators when applicable
  • Audits and update Yard Management System for carrier/trailer accuracy
  • Build in-depth working knowledge of the Transportation Management Systems so that you can design, test, and implement new configuration and parameters that drive efficiencies
  • Gather and maintain TJX Transportation and Logistics Store Delivery and Cross Dock master data
  • Support outbound transportation projects and initiatives as assigned or directed
  • Create and follow Standard Operating Process (SOP) guides for Outbound activities
  • Support other TJX functions/partners as applicable
  • Provide direction for miscellaneous outbound shipments, ie. RTVs, Misroutes, Fed Ex, etc.

Requirements

The measure and size of this job’s financial responsibility includes responsible for store delivery movement of up to $55 million annually in transportation spend, servicing 50 to 170 stores and/or cross docks depending on size of DC.

Decisions made by the incumbent include decisions to add or cancel outbound trailer movements (financial and inventory impact), ensuring correct store configuration and equipment type, managing correct trailer pool ratio to match seasonal shipping volumes, and influencing DC Business partners to ensure trailers are cubed to optimize transportation spend.

Qualifications

Minimum formal education required is a High School diploma or GED, with an Associate's degree or 2 years of relatable experience preferred.

Minimum experience required is 1-2 years of experience in an operations / transportation role, with demonstrated leadership experiences.

Pay

The starting pay range for this position is $18.50 to $23.35 per hour, with actual starting pay determined by relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
