Temporary Highway Construction Technician - North Platte & Surrounding Areas

Job Duties

• Under immediate supervision, inspect routine phases of construction projects.
• Use Windows-based computer programs, such as Microsoft Word and/or Excel, to keep construction records and documentation, as necessary.
• Participate as a member of a survey crew and perform tests on construction materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Experience not required.
• Coursework, training, and/or experience in math, construction management, and engineering preferred.
• Basic computer experience preferred.
• May require out of town, overnight travel.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Effective communication skills.
• Strong work ethic, dedication, and ability to work as part of a team.
• Safety skills, including the ability to safely move, drag, lift 35 pounds frequently, up to 60 pounds occasionally (without assistance), and 90 or more pounds infrequently (with assistance).
• Ability to climb, bend or stoop.
• Ability to work in outdoor temperature extremes and around high-speed traffic.
• Able to be reached to report to work outside scheduled work hours for highway emergencies within 45 minutes of notification.

Pay and Benefits

The pay rate is $19.941 per hour to start. Benefits include a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, paid time off, retirement, and professional development opportunities.
