About the role
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will report directly to the Director of Athletic Training Services/Head Athletic Trainer and is independently responsible for the day-to-day sports medicine/athletic training operations of one or more of the Fayetteville State University 11 NCAA D2 athletic teams and Cheerleading. This incumbent will be assigned a 10 month work assignment.
Responsibilities
- Independently and effectively oversee all sports medicine operations for assigned teams with minimum supervision.
- Prevention, Evaluation, Treatment and Rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries and illnesses within the University’s comprehensive sports medicine program.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and precise documentation utilizing an electronic medical record system.
- Completing required insurance claims.
- Compliance with privacy regulations (FERPA, HIPAA, etc.).
- Daily interaction and communication with coaching staff including routine reports and correspondence.
- Work closely with/have good work working relationship with team orthopedic practice/team physicians.
- Schedule and coordinate medical appointments.
- Maintain communication with Student Health Services for non-orthopedic illnesses.
- Advocate and provide resources for nutritional and mental health.
- Attend designated team practices/events.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays more than 40 hours/week.
- Travel/Coverage of away events; pending sport assignment.
- Maintenance/Upkeep of Athletic Training equipment and facilities.
- Uphold Policies and Procedures set forth by Fayetteville State University, the CIAA Conference, and the NCAA.
- Assistance with administrative duties as agreed upon by candidate and Director of Athletic Training Services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Masters’ Degree from an Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) approved Athletic Training Education Program;
- Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer;
- Current North Carolina state licensure or eligible for application.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications are prerequisites.
