Temporary Field/Lab Research - Robacker

About the role

The position will work closely with faculty and technicians to assist in field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments in horticulture and plant breeding. Attention to detail is critical.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory practices including microscope work, plant tissue culture, and other duties as required for the plant breeding program. (60%)
• Planting in the field and greenhouse; propagating plants via cuttings or tissue culture; watering plants, pollinating plants, collecting research data in the field and greenhouse, and other duties as required. (30%)
• Photograph plants to be used in presentations. (10%)

Requirements

• High school and work experience in horticulture or a related area.
• Valid GA driver’s license: other training will be provided as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Training in horticulture techniques.
• Work with or without supervision.
• Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Physical Demands

Work in a laboratory for multiple hours a day. This position involves out-of-town travel to research plots during the workday.
