Temporary Faculty Pool, Extension Non-Credit (EMT Program)

About the College
The College of Continuing and Professional Education extends the university into the community through self-supported and state-supported, market-responsive educational programs and services. These offerings transmit university-based knowledge and skills, providing opportunities for faculty development, curriculum experimentation, and new instructional delivery systems. Programs may be nontraditional in subject matter, format, instructional mode, location, and time, including noncredit extension, certificate programs, and lifelong learning initiatives.
About the Role
The EMT temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may be required to begin teaching on short notice.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an EMT instructor and teach assigned courses in the College of Continuing and Professional Education’s noncredit extension EMT program.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience as a Paramedic OR an Associate degree and six years of professional experience as a Paramedic.
- A strong “generalist background” and teaching experience in the EMT field.
- Experience in developing and revising curriculum, assessing student learning outcomes, and participating in program review.
- Experience teaching students from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
- Certification as an instructor for American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- 40 hours of instructional methodology training (e.g., Firefighter 1a and 1b).
- Satisfactory completion of a background check, including a criminal records check, is required for employment.
Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching practices.
Pay
The Instructional Faculty, Extension Non-Credit (job code 2363) has a salary range of $104–$1,406 per session or an hourly rate of $16.00–$240.00. The anticipated hiring salary or rate depends on experience and education and is determined by the hiring manager. Actual salary is calculated by the College of Continuing and Professional Education and provided via the Letter of Appointment prior to the start of classes.
