California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments in the College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) Special Session Programs for Credit. About the College

The College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) extends the University into the community through self-supported and state-supported, market-responsive educational programs and services. These programs transmit university-based knowledge and skills, providing opportunities for faculty development, curriculum experimentation, and new instructional delivery systems. Offerings may be nontraditional in subject matter, format, instructional mode, location, and time. Program areas include Winter and Spring Intersessions, Special Sessions Partner Programs, Open University, Credit and Noncredit Extension, Certificate Programs, and the Osher Institute for Lifelong Learning.

About the Role

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in the College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) portfolio of credit extension courses.
  • Courses are assigned by academic departments and scheduled through CCPE.
  • Staffing for course assignments is determined by the department chair and/or program coordinators as needed.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline for teaching 300 and 400-level courses.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
  • Applicants must have experience in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate students from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
  • A Doctorate degree and/or extensive professional experience is required for teaching 500-level courses.

Employment Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information or if it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
  • The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083.
  • Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years, only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position and before an offer of employment is extended.

Pay

The Instructional Faculty, Special Programs For-Credit (job code 2322) has the following salary base ranges (per unit rate based on a student enrollment of 22 or more), effective July 1, 2024:

  • Range 2 Instructor: $2,279
  • Range 3 Assistant Professor: $2,497
  • Range 4 Associate Professor: $3,146
  • Range 5 Professor: $3,977

Anticipated hiring base range depends on experience and education and is determined by the hiring manager. Actual salary is calculated by CCPE and provided via the Letter of Appointment (LOA) prior to the start of classes.
