About the role
The Temporary Maintenance Worker supports Transportation & Distribution Services by performing maintenance and cleaning tasks in various facilities and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and cleaning of parking structures, parking lots, transportation facilities, kiosks, mailboxes, and departmental buildings.
- Support transportation infrastructure maintenance, including asphalt repairs, parking stall markings, wayfinding signage, and electric vehicle charging stations.
- Assist with maintenance and repair of departmental vehicles, electric carts, traffic signals, and other parking and transportation equipment.
- Complete work orders, operate specialized maintenance and cleaning equipment, and perform general labor tasks.
Requirements
- Valid California Driver License and ability to safely work around moving vehicles.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, climbing stairs, lifting over 50 pounds, and operating maintenance equipment.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning methods, proper handling of cleaning chemicals, and basic maintenance practices.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, along with the ability to complete work orders and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in transportation, parking operations, facilities maintenance, public works, or a related field.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair, including electric carts or other fleet equipment.
- Experience with asphalt maintenance, including crack sealing, slurry application, and parking lot striping.
