About the role

The Temporary Election Lead assists elections staff in conducting election administration tasks, supporting department programs, and related duties as assigned. They will also serve as a team lead for and assist in training temporary elections staff.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the team lead
  • Assist in training temporary election staff
  • Issue ballots to county residents at county service centers
  • Accurately compile statistics related to issued and received ballots
  • Process received ballots
  • Prepare, stuff and/or collate election-related materials
  • Answer questions from voters and others regarding elections
  • Prepare and/or enter data into the state voter registration system
  • Lead teams of temporary elections staff in the above tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

Regular attendance according to the position's management-approved work schedule is required.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • A Minnesota resident for at least 20 days
  • A citizen of the United States
  • Able to read, write, and speak the English language
  • Eligible to vote in Minnesota
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Skills & Work Environment

  • Knowledge of Minnesota election processes, laws, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively with the public, department, and County associates in a professional manner
  • Ability to organize work efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to use computers and computer programs proficiently
  • Ability to perform accurate detail work with figures, statistical records, filing, proofreading, and spelling
  • Ability to work under pressure in a highly visible work environment during elections

Work is performed in a county office building. Lifting requirement of up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Position may require travel within Dakota County and will require occasional use of a personal vehicle. Equipment that may be used includes, but is not limited to, ballot counter, computer, tablet, printer, telephone, calculator, copy, and scanning machines.

$24/hour

Schedule

Up to full time for up to 10 months
