Temporary - Assistant Teacher - Child Development Center
About the role
This is a Short-Term, Non-Continuing (STNC) position at Mendocino-Lake Community College District's Child Development Center. The position is open until filled and supports institutional success by assisting in the supervision of children and implementing curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Aids in planning and implementing daily program
- Follows proper safety and emergency procedures
- Prepares and sets up activities
- Uses effective positive discipline methods
- Collects data for developmental records
- Works cooperatively with team members
- Ensures yard and equipment safety
- Treats children with dignity and respect
- Supervises classroom and yard
- Reports to work on time
- Attends and participates in meetings
- Maintains confidentiality of Center information
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Community Care Licensing training
- Experience in childcare principles and safety practices
- Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Benefits
The position is a Short-Term, Non-Continuing (STNC) hourly position, paid at $18.12 per hour, with a Bronze level benefit plan at the cost of the employee. Includes 40 hours of sick leave per fiscal year.

Selection Process
