TEMP Trades Assistant
About the role
Jobs in this group are typically responsible for managing and maintaining the university’s physical infrastructure and engineering systems. They handle construction, maintenance, and technical operations to ensure facilities and systems are functional, safe, and aligned with the university’s needs.
Responsibilities
- Contribute effectively to the maintenance team by performing skilled and/or trade-related tasks that may not require specific licensure.
- Support construction and renovation projects.
- Address installation and repair issues.
- Provide routine preventative maintenance in one or more trades.
- Contribute to the functionality and overall condition of the university environment.
- Develop an increasing familiarity with the skills and best practices of assigned trades.
- Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and procedures, such as OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.
Requirements
- Dependable and physically able to contribute effectively to the maintenance team.
- Requires regular walking, standing, kneeling, crawling, squatting, and climbing ladders or stairs, lifting and carrying of various weights.
- Repetitive motion for grasping, pulling, pushing, and operating hand and power tools.
- Work may occur in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions and environments.
- Employee will be required to lift various weights, climb ladders and stairs in order to complete jobs.
- The use of both hands and repetitive motion will be required while performing duties.
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: None.
- Licensure: None.
Skills
