Tradesman Helper (Temporary)

About the role

The Tradesman Helper position with the Department of Transportation offers a chance to learn valuable skills in a hands-on shop setting. You will support the work that keeps traffic moving safely across the state. This role allows you to grow your abilities while taking part in meaningful public service.

Responsibilities

• Shop Training: Learn tasks and tools used in the manufacture of traffic signs under guidance from shop staff
• Tool Use: Operate hand tools and equipment to complete assigned shop projects
• Equipment Support: Assist with setting up, adjusting, and maintaining equipment used in sign production
• Paint Application: Mix and apply paint through the silk screen process for sign creation
• Sign Layout: Lay out and apply letters, numbers, and figures on sign blanks following print details
• Inventory Help: Assist with organizing and maintaining shop inventory and materials

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
