About the role
The Temp Senior Payroll Associate ensures accurate and timely processing of multi-state, multi-company weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for non-union employees. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of federal and state regulations related to wage garnishment, taxation, and wage-hour law. While there are no direct reports, the associate will coordinate with other teams to meet deadlines, champion process improvements, and enhance the employee experience.
Responsibilities
- Process multi-state, multi-company bi-weekly and weekly payrolls for non-union salary, hourly, and freelance employees in compliance with employee agreements, FOX policies, and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Handle on-demand payments, retroactive payments, one-time payments, taxable fringe benefits, tax adjustments, equity-based compensation, stop payments, void checks, direct deposit reversals, and overpayment collections.
- Interpret and set up withholding orders for levies, garnishments, child support, and other involuntary wage assignments within regulated periods; respond to vendor inquiries.
- Serve as a payroll expert, resolving customer issues, performing Root Cause Analysis, and implementing remedial procedures to address gaps.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and SOX controls.
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience, preferably in the entertainment industry.
- Experience interpreting and setting up withholding orders for levies, garnishments, child support, and other involuntary wage assignments.
- Knowledge of California Labor laws and automated time and attendance systems.
- Experience leading standardization and process improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of taxable fringe benefits, stock transactions, FLSA, federal/state/local wage and hour, and tax regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills; approachable, responsive, and team-focused.
- Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivots).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High degree of professionalism and ability to deliver high-quality customer service while maintaining collaborative working relationships.
Nice to have
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
- Experience with Workday Payroll.
Pay
The pay rate for this role is $35.58–$38.95 per hour, with the final offer dependent on education, skills, experience, and location.
