Class Summary

The City of Spokane invites applicants to apply for the position of TEMP SEASONAL - OIL PAINTING INSTRUCTOR. The Corbin Art Center seeks an experienced oil painting instructor to provide life-enriching art programs to the Spokane community. The instructor will develop and deliver a diverse curriculum focusing on acrylic painting techniques, guiding students from beginners to intermediates and encouraging them to explore their artistic voices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement art curriculum and lesson plans
• Teach fundamental art techniques and concepts
• Guide students in exploring various oil painting skills
• Provide constructive feedback on student artwork
• Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment
• Stay updated with the latest art trends and educational techniques
• Inspire and motivate students to pursue their artistic interests
• Encourage students to experiment and express themselves creatively
• Manage classroom supplies and materials
• Teach oil painting for beginner and intermediate classes

Qualifications & Skills

• Previous teaching experience in an academic or community setting
• Degree in Art or related field
• Proficiency in a wide range of art techniques and mediums
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to motivate and inspire students
• Flexibility and adaptability in teaching methods
• Knowledge of art history and contemporary art trends
• Patience and attentiveness to individual student needs

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma/GED
• Ability to lift 25 lbs
• Ability to climb stairs
• Ability to exercise proper care of equipment and facility
