Temp Seasonal - Aquatics Swim Instructor

About the role

The City of Spokane's Aquatics Program seeks friendly and motivated team members looking for a fun way to serve the community. This part-time position reports to Facility Managers and Aquatic Supervisory Staff, with a season typically running June through August and work schedules varying up to 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide swimming instruction at various skill levels following the City of Spokane ASI program.
• Provide proper supervision of class participants.
• Communicate with parents or guardians of class participants.
• Assist with routine pool maintenance and custodial duties.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

• Must be at least 15 years of age at time of appointment.
• Possess a valid government-issued ID and Social Security Card.
• Required to submit to a background check.
• Must receive a certification in Swim Instructing before the start of the season (certification not required to apply).

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, including ability to answer phones and speak with the public.
• Strong decision-making skills.
• Thorough knowledge and application of teaching styles in coordination with ARC Standards.
• Understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures.
