TEMP - Program Assistant - Part-Time Theater Technician
Job Summary
The City of Pleasanton is seeking a Part-Time Theater Technician to support productions and events at our performing arts venues through high-quality technical theater work in sound and lighting.
About the Role
This position plays an important role in supporting the technical needs of productions, renters, and event directors while contributing to a welcoming and professional experience for all who use our facilities. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced setting, providing excellent customer service, and applying technical theater knowledge to support successful live events.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for productions and events, with a primary focus on sound and lighting.
- Aid in the preparation and execution of theater productions, community events, concerts, and cultural programming held at City facilities.
- Support renters and event directors by helping them navigate production needs and maintaining a high level of professionalism and service throughout events.
- Work in a professional performing arts theater environment to help ensure events run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
- Utilize technical theater knowledge, basic computer skills, and sound judgment to respond to live production demands in a timely and effective manner.
- Contribute to a positive patron and client experience by collaborating with staff and providing courteous, solution-oriented support.
Requirements
- Tech-savvy with theater production experience and a solid foundation in sound and lighting.
- Professional and dependable, with a polished demeanor and strong commitment to customer service.
- Experienced in or exposed to a professional performing arts theater environment.
- Educated or trained in technical theater, including candidates who have completed relevant coursework.
- Comfortable with basic computer use and able to adapt to technical and operational needs as they arise.
- In possession of a valid California driver's license.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: High school graduation or GED equivalent and two years of experience related to the area assigned. Knowledge of: Technical knowledge in assigned discipline. Skill and Ability to: Under the direction of a supervisor, organize, prioritize and coordinate varied work activities. Read, interpret and apply rules, policies and procedures. Effectively collect and analyze complex and sensitive information. Summarize facts and recommendations accurately and prepare clear and concise written reports. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
