Temp Part-Time Faculty in Communications

This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

About the Role

The University of New Mexico Gallup Branch anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face or online courses during the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters in the Liberal Arts & Education Division. Adjunct faculty will teach and/or develop lower division courses (1000 and 2000 Level) in Communications.

UNM-Gallup serves a diverse student population with 100+ full-time and part-time faculty members. The campus is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, offering Associate degrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees, Career Technical Education certificate programs, adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training, and personal enrichment courses. UNM-Gallup also serves multiple high school populations, including McKinley Academy, Middle College High School, and the Center for Career and Technical Education.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, the current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses during scheduled times, which may include face-to-face, evenings, or weekends.
• Develop and deliver course content.
• Create and grade assignments.
• Report grades and assess student learning as outlined by the division chair.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Communications or related field.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Communications or a related field.
  • College-level teaching experience.
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.

Pay

Adjunct faculty are compensated based on credentials and credit hour course loads. Salary range: $3,405.78 - $3,684.71 per three-credit course.
