About the role

This position is posted to create a pool of candidates to fill Home & Hospital Teaching positions as they become available. Selected candidates will be notified via email.

Responsibilities

• Provides appropriate grade level course instruction based on the mandated curriculum in various settings and locations throughout Anne Arundel County.
• Keeps assigned student(s) on pace with the curriculum to prepare them for eventual return to school.
• Utilizes appropriate instructional materials, resources, and technology to enhance instruction and engage students, while supporting their diverse needs, modifications, and accommodations.
• Offers instruction to assist students in reaching their academic Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) goals, as applicable.
• Responsible for following the modifications/accommodations outlined in a student's IEP or 504 Plan, as applicable.
• Provides the required number of instructional hours and documents all content/curriculum covered at each session.
• Provides timely feedback concerning student progress to parents/guardians and secures parental/guardian consent or acknowledgement for each session.
• Implements positive behavior management strategies to support a positive learning relational environment.
• Maintains and logs communication with student's family, school-based point of contact (school counselors, teachers, and IEP/504 teams, as appropriate), and Home and Hospital Teaching (HHT) Department.
• Attends required meetings/trainings by AACPS, HHT Department, and school-based team, as appropriate.
• Follows all procedures and policies in compliance with the state law, HHT Department, and Board of Education Policies.
• Completes reports and paperwork in a timely manner.
• Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.
• Experience: Two (2) years successful classroom teaching preferred.
