This position ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for financial transactions, particularly the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Customer Identification Program (CIP). Responsibilities
- Greet customers and provide superior customer service.
- Process night depository, ATM, and Bank-by-mail deposits.
- Receive checks and cash for deposit, verify amounts, examine checks for proper endorsements, and issue receipts.
- Place holds on checks accepted for deposits, if warranted, in accordance with regulations.
- Cash checks after verifying customer signatures and balances; obtain positive identification of payees.
- Complete Currency Transaction Reports and prepare Suspicious Activity Reports when applicable.
- Maintain teller cash drawer within required limits.
- Explain, promote, and sell bank products or services, such as cashier’s checks.
- Maintain logs for cash sales of Cashier’s Checks per Bank Secrecy Act requirements.
- Accept loan payments and process cash advances.
- Place stop payments on checks, drafts, and ACH transactions as requested by customers.
- Balance teller cash drawer and cash vault daily.
- Accept and process information for outgoing wire transfers in accordance with procedures.
- Assist customers in preparing documentation for debit card disputes.
- Assist in filing bank records and documentation.
- Verify next-day new account information and account file maintenance.
- Open and process mail as required.
- Answer telephone calls, take messages, forward calls, or provide customer assistance.
- Maintain an organized, clutter-free, and adequately supplied work area.
- Cross-train in other areas of the bank.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Report to work regularly and promptly.
- Contribute as a team player and participate in meetings and discussions.
- Stay abreast of company communications by reading publications, announcements, and emails.
- Enhance professional growth through training, literature, and in-service meetings.
- Maintain established department and bank policies, procedures, and objectives.
Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and use bank systems software.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to handle problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit, stand, talk, and hear.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to walk.
- Must be able to lift objects weighing 0 to 25 pounds regularly; occasionally lift 25 to 50 pounds.
