Union Bank Tellers deliver a best-in-class customer experience by handling daily transactions, answering inquiries, and resolving problems in line with bank policies. The role involves basic to moderate-complexity tasks and includes identifying customer needs and referring them to appropriate products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide top-tier customer service and satisfaction, building rapport with customers and understanding account ownership.
  • Process a variety of transactions: check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, payments, and more.
  • Count, prove, and package currency and coin; redeem U.S. Savings Bonds.
  • Assist with night depository functions and safe deposit box access.
  • Operate TCR machines, including balancing the drawer at day-end.
  • Fund and sell pre-paid Visa Cards; handle CD-related transactions.
  • Process customer service transactions such as account holds, stop payments, ACH/AFT forms, and other documents.
  • Serve as dual control for branch activities, including ATM and vault operations.
  • Adhere to security and emergency procedures; secure customer information and maintain an organized workspace.
  • Follow bank policies for cashing checks, ensuring funds availability and collection.
  • Maintain balancing records, troubleshoot outages, and seek assistance as needed.
  • Assist in branch opening/closing and maintain equipment (scanners, validators, coin counters, TCRs).
  • Meet or exceed sales referral targets set by management.
  • Participate in branch huddles, sales meetings, and staff meetings.
  • Understand all Retail products/services and initiate conversations to uncover customer needs.
  • Refer customers to line-of-business partners (Mortgage, Commercial, Treasury Management) for product sales.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Branch Manager, Customer Service Manager, or Assistant Branch Manager.
  • Comply with all bank regulations, including BSA and OFAC.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the 90-Day Teller Certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including listening, verbal, and written communication.
  • Exemplary customer service skills and attention to detail/accuracy.
  • Ability to follow directions and maintain confidentiality.
  • Professional appearance and phone etiquette for internal/external communication.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; prior cash handling and customer service experience preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily stationed in the branch teller area (95% of working time).
  • Ability to travel to other branches on short notice or as scheduled.
  • No significant hazards; occasional physical demands include standing for long periods, stooping, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
