Deerwood Bank is seeking a full-time Teller I for its Baxter, MN branch.
About the role
This position performs a variety of duties including handling teller work, cash, balancing, deposits, checks, and payments while promoting bank products and services. It requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and adherence to all bank policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers and staff with retail, operations, and customer service support.
- Receive customer deposits for all accounts and payments.
- Verify customer balances and require proper identification and documentation.
- Maintain currency and coin supply within bank policy and balancing records within acceptable limits.
- Operate security equipment and follow safety precautions.
- Perform tasks such as verifying balances, balancing ATMs, ordering checks, documenting address changes, answering phones, and following safe deposit box access procedures.
- Process branch capture, redeem savings bonds, buy and sell foreign currency, prepare cashier checks, and sell gift/reloadable cards.
- Handle temporary cards, wire transfers, verify mail and night depository bags, and maintain accurate logs.
- Cross-sell and introduce new services to customers following branch goals and regulatory guidance.
- Open and close the bank following proper security procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Cash handling and customer service experience preferred.
- Provide excellent customer service and work in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize and make decisions regarding customer transactions while balancing customer satisfaction and fraud prevention.
- In-depth knowledge of bank deposit products, services, and policies.
- Basic knowledge of bank loan and investment center products.
- Proficiency with office equipment including computers, fax, scanner/copier, phone systems, and relevant software (spreadsheets, databases, presentation tools).
- Alertness to fraudulent activity and ability to report suspicious behavior.
- Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, positive attitude, and pleasant personality.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, organize workflow, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
Schedule
- Monday - Friday: 7:15 AM - 6:15 PM (opening and closing shifts available).
- Saturday: 8:15 AM - 12:15 PM on a rotational basis (paid at double time).
Pay
Starting pay rate: $17.75 - $19.50 per hour, depending on qualifications.
