About the role
PenFed is hiring a Teller to work onsite at our Harker Heights, Texas Financial Center. The primary purpose of this job is to assist with member service needs through selling products, completing teller transactions, accurate balancing, and performing additional operational duties. This position can also assist in the training of other branch employees and will play a vital role in delivering a best-in-class member experience. The incumbent will work directly with the Branch Service Representative (BSR) sales team, utilizing sales techniques to uncover member needs while creating a positive member experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist and greet current and prospective members in person or on the phone.
- Evaluate needs of potential members and offer appropriate financial products and services.
- Identify sales opportunities using open-ended questions to uncover financial needs, while presenting options and alternative solutions.
- Maintain knowledge of PenFed's products and services such as membership, checking, credit cards, loans, etc.
- Provide ongoing relationships with current members to gain additional services, utilizing sales techniques to uncover member needs and match them to credit union products and services.
- Assist and educate members on the use of PenFed Online (PFOL), mobile banking, and other remote banking channels.
- Explain all PenFed products and services to members.
- Resolve complex member problems using various PenFed channels within delegated limits as appropriate.
- Prepare loan documents for review and disbursement as necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of operations, security, balancing procedures, and rules and regulations concerning ATMs and operations.
- Maintain knowledge of PenFed policies and procedures.
- Remain current on outside competitive products.
- Conduct quality assurance monitoring of documents to be sent to Member Records.
- Provide input to and assist in the implementation of new marketing projects.
- Conduct member transactions when requested.
- Maintain teller cash drawer limits within PenFed policies and procedures.
- Balance cash drawer daily and prepare individual settlement sheets.
- Maintain accurate records of deposits, withdrawals, official checks, POS, and share drafts.
- Assist with the daily balancing and closing out of the branch.
- Assist in training new teammates.
- Perform various Universal Representative (UR) responsibilities, including determining loan payoffs, cashing checks, furnishing loan and share balances, providing account numbers, and disbursing share withdrawals after verifying proper identification.
- Maintain a high level of proficiency in operating all internal PenFed systems or platforms, including SalesForce, PenTeller, Knowledge, Hogan, and inbound calls network, to support member and business needs.
- Provide support to other branches, including working weekends and/or extended hours as required.
- Support additional PenFed initiatives to meet member and business needs.
- If a Notary Public, provide members Notary Services while adhering to all state laws/regulations related to the notarization of documents.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of superior customer service experience is required.
- Teller experience is preferred.
- Valid Notary Public certification is preferred (not applicable for Puerto Rico locations).
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is required.
- Experience using A.I. tools is preferred.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise. Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.
Travel
Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
Pay
The anticipated starting hourly range for this role is $16.74 - $18.38. This position is eligible for an organizational performance-based annual bonus and an individual performance-based annual bonus, subject to board discretion and approval.
