About the role

TEGNA Inc. (NYSE: TGNA) seeks an innovative Television News Producer to shape KCEN KAGS-TV's daily newscasts. Located in Temple, KCEN KAGS-TV is an NBC affiliate that builds creative shows engaging, educating, and informing its audience. The producer works within a collaborative team to bring the truth to viewers across various platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Use natural curiosity to pitch compelling stories.
  • Show creativity and storytelling skills.
  • Craft stories of all lengths for specific audiences.
  • Meet daily deadlines.
  • Create an engaging experience for the audience using live pictures, graphics, compelling video, and emotional sound.
  • Booth continuous coverage on live streams for breaking news and community events.
  • Consistently try new things after thoughtful discussion with supervisors.
  • Ensure all communities and viewpoints have a voice and presence in the show.
  • Use data analytics to help shape the content of the show.
  • Challenge traditional ways of doing things.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in journalism, communications or related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • 0-1 years of news content experience.
  • Top-notch communication skills are an absolute must.
  • Solid journalistic judgement and a news philosophy emphasizing accurate, fair, and unique local content, along with community engagement.
  • Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
  • Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content.
  • Strong social media skills, including an active news hound presence on preferred social platforms.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under time pressure deadlines.
  • Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
  • ENPS and Edius system experience preferred.
