TELEPHONE OPERATOR
Full-time position with 72 hours every two weeks, 10-hour shifts from 8 PM to 6 AM, including weekends and holidays.
About the Role
The Telephone Operator provides a welcoming and positive first impression of Premier Health by processing incoming, outgoing, network, and interfacility calls related to hospital services. Responsibilities include providing on-call information, patient information, and directory assistance. The operator monitors and responds to critical alarms (fire, gas, bone freezer, Hill-Rom-Alert Notification (Code Blue), Weather Station) and communicates emergencies using the public broadcast system (PBX), wireless and/or Vocera messaging, and the enterprise on-call scheduling system to ensure appropriate response teams or on-call physicians respond in life/death situations. The operator maintains logs of emergency responses for regulatory reporting (e.g., Code Red) and processes pages via audio, wireless messaging, and/or radio equipment.
At Atrium Medical Center (AMC), the operator also provides dispatch services, entering and processing facility work orders for Maintenance and patient clinical work orders for Clinical Engineering, including emergency work order requests as needed.
Responsibilities

- Communicate emergency work order requests as needed.
Requirements
- High School completion or GED.
- Typing test requirement: minimum 30 words per minute.
- 1–3 years of job-related experience.
- Preferred experience: Telephone operator or high call volume management.
- Customer service experience.
Skills
- Good computer literacy with basic Microsoft skills.
- Basic office equipment skills and keyboard proficiency (35 words per minute).
- Able to sit for long periods with limited mobility and wear a headset.
- Excellent voice modulation and grammar.
- Good organizational and multitasking skills.
