Telematics Coverage Engineer

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Telematics Coverage Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space. This role will focus on expanding vehicle data coverage and improving connectivity across telematics systems. You will work with OEM documentation, vehicle networks, and diagnostic data to uncover and validate signals that support new product capabilities. The position combines hands-on engineering, reverse engineering, and cross-functional collaboration to help deliver accurate and scalable vehicle coverage solutions.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Research vehicle network signals and proprietary OEM data
• Analyze OEM documentation to strategize data access
• Connect to vehicle networks and document log analyses
• Use debugging, data scraping, and reverse engineering to expand coverage
• Provide technical insights for new telematics features
• Travel to customer locations to validate coverage solutions
• Drive cross-functional vehicle coverage projects

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in automotive vehicle network traffic or telematics systems
• Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical, software, or automotive engineering
• Experience interfacing with vehicles and vehicle communication networks
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or Python
• Hands-on experience with debugging tools like multimeters and oscilloscopes
• Familiarity with reverse-engineering tools such as Vehicle Spy or PCAN
• Working knowledge of automotive communication standards, including J1939 and OBD-II

Pay

Compensation: $140,000 – $200,000 annually
