Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the integration of telematics hardware and software systems into industrial truck platforms.
- Integrate and Validate Truck Level features such as:
- Access control (RFID, PIN, telematics-based authentication)
- Geo-fencing and location-aware restrictions
- Operator-based speed and performance control
- User-friendly man-machine interfaces (MMI/HMI)
- OTA Updates
- Implement system architectures connecting telematics modules with CANbus networks (CAN Open and J1939 Protocols) across electric and IC engine platforms as well as non-CANbus platforms.
- Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to ensure seamless physical and electrical integration of telematics devices.
- Design and execute Vehicle-level validation.
- Perform data analysis and diagnostics on CANbus signals, telematics data streams, and system performance issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues across hardware, firmware, and vehicle systems.
- Support field trials and customer deployments, providing technical expertise and feedback loops for continuous improvement.
Tasks and Qualifications
- Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in telematics, embedded systems, or vehicle system integration.
- Proven experience working with CANbus protocols, diagnostics, and networked vehicle systems.
- Strong understanding of both:
- Electrical systems (wiring, sensors, controllers)
- Mechanical systems (vehicle interfaces, mounting, environmental considerations)
- Experience integrating telematics features such as access control, geo-fencing, and operator-based controls.
- Hands-on experience with design validation and verification processes, including test plan development and execution.
- Familiarity with both electric and internal combustion vehicle platforms.
- Experience with man-machine interface (MMI/HMI) design and usability considerations.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in off-highway, industrial, or commercial vehicle industries (e.g., forklifts, construction equipment, AGVs).
- Knowledge of telematics communication technologies (e.g., cellular, GPS, IoT platforms).
- Experience with embedded software or firmware development (C/C++, Python, or similar).
- Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, ISO 26262, ANSI B56).
- Experience with data analytics, cloud platforms, or fleet management systems.
- Understanding of vehicle electrification systems, including batteries, motor controllers, and charging infrastructure.
