Telecommunicator

About the role

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center is seeking full-time Telecommunicators. This role involves answering emergency 911 and non-emergency calls from the public, using radios to communicate with Police, Fire, and EMS personnel, collecting and recording essential data, entering data and making queries on the TIME System, maintaining records, and compiling and completing required reports.

Responsibilities

• Multitask by managing multiple incidents and sources of information simultaneously
• Accurately repeat complex information with concise brevity

Requirements

• At least 18 years old
• Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License
• Good typing, communication, and computer skills
• Ability to stay calm in high-stress situations
• Experience in emergency services and/or education beyond high school graduation preferred
• Knowledge of two-way radio operation preferred

Pay

Starting salary: $23.70 per hour.

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule (every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off)
• Shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (selected by seniority each year)
• Holiday and weekend work required
• Mandatory overtime may be required
