Location: North of Las Vegas, NV region

About the Role

Installs, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs fire and security alarms, access control systems, and associated equipment such as control panels, smoke/heat detectors, door contacts, motion sensors, card readers, temperature alert sensors, and glass break detectors. Control panels and devices include products from Fire-lite, Advantor, Infographics, Wells Fargo, MDI, and Pyrotronics. Position is represented by a Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, design and layout systems, create databases, install cabling, mount and wire controls and peripherals.
  • Program or download configurations for control panels as required.
  • Establish and maintain communication links by point-to-point modems and/or LANs.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PMIs) of all systems, including database and software upgrades.
  • Use ladders, man lifts, scissor lifts, hand & power tools, and soldering equipment for circuit board repairs.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions and remote locations with limited medical personnel and facilities.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government Top-Secret security clearance and access to the work location.
  • F-card issued by Nevada State Fire Marshal’s office.
  • OSHA-10 card, Construction Industry.
  • CPR/First-Aid card.
  • Must pass pre-hire drug screening and Fit-for-Duty physical.
  • Must bring: Social Security Card, original state-issued birth certificate or Naturalization Certificate, and valid driver’s license.
  • Normal color vision and freedom from fear of heights and confined spaces.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office products and computer-based timekeeping programs.
  • Ability to research, specify, and order materials.
  • Compliance with all Safety and environmental regulations and practices.

Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and database management software.
  • Ability to perform alarm panel programming and downloads.
  • Ability to pass respirator physical/fit-test and wear a respirator if required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Duties performed both indoors and outdoors on surfaces such as gravel, dirt, asphalt, concrete, or elevated equipment.
  • Frequent climbing of stairs, ladders, towers, and scaffolds to service/repair equipment or systems.
  • Frequent walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Ability to work in a field environment with some shift work and occasional overnight assignments.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Pay

$47.34 per hour
