About the role
We are one of the largest U.S. railroads responsible for transporting essential products and materials across 28 western states and 3 Canadian provinces. As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of these vital goods.
Responsibilities
- Install, test, inspect, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot communications equipment.
- Manage fiber optics, cables, towers, antennas, power plants, and microwave/radio sites.
- Operate trucks and various equipment to support Telecom work.
- Work in diverse and extreme weather conditions, including hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet.
- Engage in safety conversations and follow safety policies and procedures.
- Climb towers and perform work on uneven surfaces, lifting up to 60 pounds.
- Coordinate work assignments and schedules, conduct analyses, and manage budgets.
Requirements
- Able to work independently and safely in various environments.
- Able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Experience in budgeting, material management, and coordination of work assignments.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 3 years of experience coordinating information from several sources to assign work assignments and coordinate schedules.
- At least 1 year of experience conducting analysis of computer-generated reports.
- At least 1 year of experience in budgeting and material management.
- Union membership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive environment.
- Knowledge of telecommunications systems and equipment.
