About the role
We are one of the largest U.S. railroads transporting essential products and materials across 28 western states and 3 Canadian provinces. As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the movement of goods that help feed, clothe, supply, and power communities.
Responsibilities
- Install, test, inspect, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot communications equipment.
- Manage fiber optics, cables, towers, antennas, power plants, and microwave/radio sites.
- Operate trucks and various equipment to support Telecom work.
- Work in safety-sensitive environments, including diverse and extreme weather conditions.
- Conduct safety conversations and follow safety policies and procedures.
- Climb towers and perform work on uneven surfaces.
Requirements
- Able to work safely in various weather conditions.
- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to travel up to 80% of the time.
- Able to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Experience in budgeting, material management, and analyzing computer-generated reports.
Qualifications
- Able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid CDL or ability to obtain one within 240 days of employment.
- Union membership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Skills
- Technical skills in telecommunications equipment and systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
