About the role

This is a 12+ month assignment for a Telecom Engineer at a Government Client in Downtown, NYC. The consultant will be required to attend a face-to-face interview and work onsite 5 days a week, Monday - Friday (9:00am - 5:00pm), with a 35-hour work week and no remote work. The start date for this position is 9/15/2026.

Scope of Work

The Telecom Management unit is responsible for managing telecom infrastructure and services for 7000 Client users across 37 locations, including telephone lines, phone instruments, data circuits, and other services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Telecom Support, including telephone repairs, moves, adds, and changes at various Client field offices
  • Interface with Telecom vendors to resolve issues and system upgrades
  • Perform site surveys and participate in walk-throughs to diagnose problems
  • Manage data circuits, including installation and troubleshooting
  • Use telecommunications provisioning software and Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS) to administer moves, adds, and changes
  • Design and maintain the MDF, IDF, cable infrastructures at all Client locations
  • Install, terminate, and test cabling of moderate distance
  • Coordinate and implement backbone cabling where necessary
  • Oversee cabling work performed by vendors
  • Use the Client Telecom Inventory Management System to keep up-to-date inventory on voice and data lines and phone instruments
  • Utilize Service Desk software to create problem tickets and manage assigned workload
  • Conduct end-user technical training or provide instructions as needed on Telecommunications instruments and peripherals

Requirements

  • 5 years of hands-on experience as a Telecom Engineer managing telecom services
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10, Office 365/Exchange online, Browsers, MS Visio, and Project
  • Experience with Telecommunication Enterprise Direct, Telecommunication CMAC, VMM, Interactive Voice Response Systems, and Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS)
  • Ability to recognize and resolve Telecom (hardware, software, application) problems
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and perform in a high-paced/high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work independently or within a group to resolve an issue
  • Ability to communicate with different levels of the organization
  • Strong team player with a service-oriented attitude and customer focus
  • Ability to provide effective and efficient real-time support for a variety of Telecom issues and users
  • Proven experience with solving telecom-related issues via the phone
  • Ability to work in small IDF closets and lift and move equipment weighing up to 50lbs

Work Environment

The candidate will be required to work at any Client location within the five boroughs of NYC to support 24x7 operations, including 2 secure detention center facilities in Brooklyn and Bronx.
