About the role
The Linwood YMCA/James B. Nutter, Sr. Community Center seeks a Teen Tech Coordinator to lead the Teen Tech Center at the Linwood location. This dynamic, youth-driven space offers a variety of technology-related activities designed to empower young people through mentorship and skill-building.
Responsibilities
- Support youth in project creation and provide guidance on technology use.
- Maintain technology in the space and manage relationships with Teen Tech Center stakeholders.
- Teach youth a basic understanding of available technology and help them plan for future opportunities.
- Connect participants to additional resources and support services.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteer mentors.
- Provide administrative support, including file management and technology troubleshooting.
- Assist in fundraising and publicity efforts for the Teen Tech Center.
- Partner with other associates to enrich lives through technology in a safe and inclusive environment.
Requirements
This is a grant-funded position offering a hiring range of $17.00-$19.00 per hour. The ideal candidate will have:
- A proven track record working with youth, particularly those from under-resourced communities.
- Experience facilitating both formal and informal learning environments.
- Knowledge of computers and a keen interest in technology as a tool for empowerment.
- Potential areas of expertise in various technology fields such as 3D printing, Adobe Creative Cloud, digital art design, robotics, drone piloting, coding, game design, and STEM challenges.
- An eagerness to learn about new technologies and a passion for sharing this knowledge with others.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to reach out to youth, parents, educators, and community leaders.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A commitment to making independent and sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- A high level of discretion and confidentiality.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with computers and technology.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Passion for technology and its role in youth development.
