Technology Operations & Systems Administrator
LADCFS + UCLA Academy of Workforce Excellence operates under a Title IV-E training contract between UCLA and the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (LADCFS). In collaboration with seven universities—UCLA, USC, CSULB, CSULA, CSUN, CSUDH, and APU—the Academy provides comprehensive training programs designed to equip LADCFS staff at all levels with the skills and knowledge necessary for child welfare services. The Academy facilitates foundational training, in-service education, and specialized off-site programs to enhance professional development, focusing on workforce preparedness, operational excellence, and innovative training methodologies.
About the role
The LADCFS + UCLA Academy of Workforce Excellence is seeking a highly motivated Technology Operations & Systems Administrator to support the technology infrastructure behind one of California's largest child welfare workforce development programs. This position plays a critical role in administering enterprise technology systems, supporting classroom and audiovisual technologies, implementing new technology solutions, and ensuring seamless delivery of instructor-led, virtual, and hybrid training programs across multiple Los Angeles County locations. The incumbent will lead technology operations, operational reporting, and continuous technology improvements to enhance the learning experience for thousands of child welfare professionals annually.
Responsibilities
- Administer enterprise technology systems and support classroom/audiovisual technologies.
- Implement new technology solutions for instructor-led, virtual, and hybrid training programs.
- Lead technology operations, operational reporting, and continuous improvements.
- Support and maintain enterprise applications such as Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and other collaboration tools.
- Maintain systems used for training and data tracking, ensuring data accuracy, reporting functionality, and system reliability.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues across multiple platforms.
- Manage user account permissions, system configurations, and performance monitoring.
- Develop and maintain system integration using APIs, data workflows, and automation tools.
- Use scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to improve operational efficiency.
- Create and maintain organized computer, digital, and paper files and records.
- Interpret, apply, and explain training rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Provide transportation to training sites across Los Angeles County, including Norwalk, Palmdale, Glendale, DTLA, Whittier, and surrounding areas.
Requirements
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS) and understanding of cloud-based infrastructure and services.
- Advanced knowledge of IT support principles and practices, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Working knowledge of systems administration, including user account management, permissions, system configurations, and performance monitoring.
- Knowledge of system integration concepts, including APIs, data workflows, and automation tools.
- Skill in scripting and automation using tools such as PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.
- Ability to work independently in a satellite location and manage multiple, frequently changing priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, trainers, and all levels of DCFS personnel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent the Director of Facilities and Operations professionally.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills to maintain accurate system records, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Ability to provide own transportation to travel to training sites across Los Angeles County.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience. (Required)
- Master's Degree in a related field (e.g., Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or Technology Management). (Preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in systems administration, IT and admin support, or application support, with an equivalent combination of education and hands-on technical experience. (Preferred)
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in IT support, systems administration, cloud platforms, or technical operations may be considered in lieu of a degree. (Preferred)
Special Conditions for Employment
- Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.

Pay
UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common.
