Technology Internship Program - Summer 2027

This is a full-time paid internship program spanning ten weeks from June through August 2027. Participation requires in-person attendance at your assigned location in the continental United States, in accordance with Capital One's hybrid working model. Interns will be evaluated for a full-time position within our rotational programs, with start dates six months to one year following the internship.

To be considered, candidates must provide a formal school record (e.g., unofficial transcript or degree audit) stating the current expected graduation date. Capital One will not sponsor new applicants for employment authorization or provide immigration-related support for this position.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher, with completion of your most recent full-time degree program by August 2028 or earlier
  • Must continue in the same course of study following the internship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical or quantitative discipline (e.g., computer science, computer engineering, information systems, information technology, mathematics)
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and conceptual skills
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced programming skills or experience in one or more of: Go, Kotlin, Python, Java, HTML, Swift, PHP, XML, JSON, UML, JavaScript, SQL, PL/SQL, Shell scripts, Objective C, C#, C/C++, Perl, .net, asp.net, Visual Basic
  • Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity beyond basic code completion

As a Software Engineer in the Technology Internship Program, you may work on customer-facing web and mobile applications, highly-available RESTful services, or back-end Java-based systems using cutting-edge techniques in Big Data. Our engineers work in a "You Build It, You Own It" full-stack environment supporting an innovative tech stack, including:

  • Languages: Java, React, Angular, Vue JS, C#, Scala, Clojure, Java, Haskell, C++, Go, Scheme, Common Lisp
  • Technologies: REST APIs, NoSQL databases, Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins, Docker, AWS cloud
  • Tools: AI-powered development tools for accelerating development and improving code quality

Program Details

The Technology Internship Program provides the framework to develop world-class technical skills and gain a comprehensive understanding of technology. During the 10-week internship, you can expect:

Pay

The full-time annual salary for this role is listed below by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on agreed-upon hours.

  • McLean, VA: $140,000
  • Plano, TX: $127,000
  • Richmond, VA: $127,000

Candidates hired for other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
