Technology Foundation Associate Instructor

About the role

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is seeking a full-time Technology Foundations instructor to join our team. This position is located at the Murfreesboro Campus and involves teaching high school and adult students in a full-time capacity, 37.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Develop an effective course of study, including experiments, job sheets, assignment sheets, information sheets, audio-visual aids and related materials.
• Coordinate with instructors of each program area to develop complementary courses.
• Execute student evaluations based on course objectives and track student progress.
• Encourage positive attitudes and good work habits among students.
• Administer initial testing of new students in math and reading; share test results with program instructors.
• Maintain a well-organized, safe, and clean shop or classroom.
• Select projects for instructional value and ensure students receive work experience or cooperative training.
• Supervise classes when necessary.
• Participate in in-service training and other professional development opportunities.
• Teach the Work Ethics curriculum.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Education or subject area to be taught from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience.
• Ability to teach Basic Math, Reading Comprehension, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Blueprint Reading.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Proven curriculum development experience in the area of basic skills for the adult learner.
• Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office and other appropriate software needed for the teaching profession.
• Ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.

• Proven curriculum development experience in the area of basic skills for the adult learner.
• Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: Communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher, interaction with high school and adult students, knowledge of the principles and practices of the industry and occupation, knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office and other appropriate software needed for the teaching profession, ability to deal tactfully with the public and co-workers, ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.

Salary

This is an exempt position. Salary commensurate with qualifications, education, experience, and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
