About the role
The Technology Development for Integrated Photonics position involves developing integrated photonics technology for space-based applications. This role focuses on the development of photonic chips and their integration into larger instruments, including remote sensors like microwave photonics radiometers and compact lidar systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and test photonic chips for various space-based applications
- Collaborate with science and engineering teams to understand instrument measurement goals and how new technologies enhance existing capabilities
- Ideate, design, layout, model, analyze, and test photonic chips
- Work on miniaturization of existing capabilities and enablement of new capabilities
Requirements
- A completed doctoral degree in a field relevant to integrated photonics
Qualifications
- Experience in integrated photonics or related fields
- Strong background in optics, electronics, and materials science
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
Skills
- Programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or similar
- Photonic device fabrication techniques
- Optical characterization and testing
- Modeling and simulation tools
