About the role

The Technology Development for Integrated Photonics position involves developing integrated photonics technology for space-based applications. This role focuses on the development of photonic chips and their integration into larger instruments, including remote sensors like microwave photonics radiometers and compact lidar systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and test photonic chips for various space-based applications
  • Collaborate with science and engineering teams to understand instrument measurement goals and how new technologies enhance existing capabilities
  • Ideate, design, layout, model, analyze, and test photonic chips
  • Work on miniaturization of existing capabilities and enablement of new capabilities

Requirements

  • A completed doctoral degree in a field relevant to integrated photonics

Qualifications

  • Experience in integrated photonics or related fields
  • Strong background in optics, electronics, and materials science
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills

Skills

  • Programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or similar
  • Photonic device fabrication techniques
  • Optical characterization and testing
  • Modeling and simulation tools
