Technologist, Special Procedure II

Assists credentialed providers with diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures in cardiac and vascular laboratory environments. Performs duties in a manner that promotes teamwork and reflects organizational mission and philosophy goals. Works under direct supervision of a credentialed provider.

Responsibilities

• Monitors radiation safety and completes administrative tasks for proper documentation and compliance.
• Performs quality assurance functions for x-ray equipment and protective garments/accessories; troubleshoots equipment problems and initiates vendor service calls.
• Assists hospital radiation safety officer in survey and compliance documentation for the CVLs.
• Demonstrates familiarity with IVUS, Site Rite, Atherectomy Devices, Pacemakers/ICDs, and Coronary Angiograms/Interventions.
• Serves as scrub, monitor/recorder, and x-ray technician for all CVL procedures as assigned.
• Prepares and positions patients for invasive procedures.
• Assists with cardiovascular tests and records hemodynamic activity using specialized electronic test equipment and laboratory instruments.
• Obtains hemostasis at arterial and venous access sites post-procedure, including removal of sheaths and safe management of hemostatic devices.
• Familiar with PACS image retrieval for presentation during active cases.
• Sets up, maintains, and troubleshoots all equipment used in procedures.
• Recognizes cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic waveforms; alerts credentialed provider and team members during procedures.
• Administers intra-coronary and/or intra-arterial medications under direct physician supervision.
• Prepares and maintains sterile field using aseptic technique for procedures.
• Supports the physician in the sterile field as a scrub by assisting, preparing, and maintaining the sterile field.
• Prepares, maintains, and operates hemodynamic and monitoring equipment.
• Performs basic and advanced life support when required, including defibrillation.
• Maintains proficiency in point-of-care tests such as activated clotting time (ACT), oxygen saturations, glucose testing, and arterial blood gases (ABG).
• Performs patient teaching of procedures.
• Works on call and responds on-site within 30 minutes.
• Restocks supplies and maintains a clean work area.
• Assists with transportation of patients.

Requirements

• Minimum twelve (12) continuous months of cardiac cath lab, EP, Neuro IR, and/or Special procedures work experience within the last three (3) years.
• Successful completion of an accredited program in radiologic technology (ARRT).
• Registered Radiologic Technologist (Washington) OR Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist License (Oregon).
• One of the following certifications within 12 months of hire:
  • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist Certificate
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certificate
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Vascular Interventional Radiography
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Cardiac Interventional Radiography
• NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 6 months of hire.
• Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 2 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support within 1 month of hire.
• Proof of continuing education to maintain registry.
• Demonstrates customer-focused service skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform all functions at a high level of competence without direct supervision.
• Must comply with departmental policy for 30-minute response time for after-hour callbacks.

Pay

$58.92 - $67.62 / hour
