Special Procedure Technologist II

Assists credentialed providers with diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac and vascular laboratory. Performs duties in a manner that promotes teamwork and reflects organizational mission and philosophy goals. Works under direct supervision of a credentialed provider.

Responsibilities

• Monitors radiation safety and completes administrative tasks for proper documentation and compliance.
• Performs quality assurance functions for x-ray equipment and protective garments; troubleshoots equipment problems and initiates vendor service calls.
• Assists hospital radiation safety officer in survey and compliance documentation for the CVLs.
• Familiar with IVUS, Site Rite, Atherectomy Devices, Pacemakers/ICDs, and Coronary Angiograms/Interventions.
• Serves as scrub, monitor/recorder, and x-ray technician for all CVL procedures as assigned.
• Prepares and positions patients for invasive procedures.
• Assists with cardiovascular tests and records hemodynamic activity using specialized equipment.
• Obtains hemostasis at arterial and venous access sites post-procedure, including sheath removal and hemostatic device management.
• Familiar with PACS image retrieval for presentation during active cases.
• Sets up, maintains, and troubleshoots all procedural equipment.
• Recognizes cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic waveforms; alerts team members during procedures.
• Administers intra-coronary and/or intra-arterial medications under direct physician supervision.
• Prepares and maintains sterile field using aseptic technique.
• Supports physicians in the sterile field as a scrub assistant.
• Prepares, maintains, and operates hemodynamic and monitoring equipment.
• Performs basic and advanced life support, including defibrillation.
• Maintains proficiency in point-of-care tests (ACT, oxygen saturations, glucose testing, ABG).
• Provides patient teaching regarding procedures.
• Works on-call with a required 30-minute on-site response time.
• Restocks supplies, maintains clean work areas, and assists with patient transportation.

Requirements

• Minimum twelve (12) continuous months of experience in cardiac cath lab, EP, Neuro IR, and/or Special procedures within the last three (3) years.
• Successful completion of an accredited radiologic technology program (ARRT).

Qualifications

• Registered Radiologic Technologist (Washington) or Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist License (Oregon).
• One of the following certifications within 12 months of hire:
  • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
  • ARRT Certificate - Vascular Interventional Radiography
  • ARRT Certificate - Cardiac Interventional Radiography
• NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 6 months of hire.
• ARRT Radiologic Technologist Certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 2 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 1 month of hire.
• Proof of continuing education to maintain registry.
• Demonstrates customer-focused service skills and strong communication/interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to perform high-level functions without direct supervision.
• Proficiency in scrub, monitor/recorder, and x-ray technician roles for all CVL procedures.
• Compliance with 30-minute response time for after-hours callbacks.

Pay

$58.92 - $67.62 / hour

Schedule

• Full-time (40 hours per week).
• Shift: Day (07:15 AM – 05:45 PM).
• Workdays: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat.
• On-call requirement with 30-minute on-site response time.
