About the Role
Operates radiology equipment and performs routine diagnostic procedures as prescribed by physicians according to established standards and practices in order to aid in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease.
Responsibilities
- Performs radiologic procedures using appropriate technical and safety methods as requested by a licensed physician.
- Exercises judgement in selecting and computing settings for each patient.
- Develops an appropriate procedure/treatment plan.
- Implements procedure/treatment plan utilizing established hospital protocols/guidelines.
- Completes documentation as required to comply with hospital policies and procedures.
- Maintains equipment, procedure/treatment rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
- Participates in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities to ensure that patient care is consistent with established standards.
- Collects quality data for monitoring performance improvement.
- Completes assigned goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of a formal education program in radiography accredited by a mechanism acceptable to ARRT.
- Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with current Registry in Radiography ARRT(R) or new graduate who is waiting to take the registry.
- ARRT(R) certification; BLS Certification within 14 days of hire.
- New graduate must obtain required registry within 120 days of hire.
- State license as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum required experience as obtained through the completion of a Radiology Technology Program.
- Associates degree in a related field (preferred).
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Radiologic principles/theory.
- Utilizes the most appropriate technique and positioning for optimal procedures/treatments as demonstrated by procedure/treatment results.
- Demonstrates ability to receive and follow written and oral instructions; ability to plan and organize work.
