Technician, Repair

About the Role

The Repair Technician position can be based inside a client's automotive repair facility or operate remotely, dependent upon current demands. The successful technician will provide services including consulting with shops, assisting in diagnostics scans, and recommending repairs for collision-involved vehicles using the asTech® device. The technician will also perform on-site repairs on various makes and models of vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Utilize various OEM tools and diagnostic equipment to recommend repairs for multiple makes and models.
• Independently complete basic through advanced physical repairs to damaged vehicles.
• Act as a subject matter expert, explaining technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals.
• Evaluate information and data to interpret technical details, electrical components, and Advanced Safety Systems (ADAS).
• Identify faults, error messages, module corrections, and other diagnostic issues.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques through training to stay updated with automotive technology.
• Test drive and/or move customer vehicles at shop locations.
• Coordinate with fellow technicians on in-depth diagnostic test plans.
• Keep team management informed of mechanical and electrical repair issues.
• Adhere to company, shop, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
• Perform physical repairs, including passenger airbags, wire repairs, full interior jobs, dashboards, steering columns, fuse box repairs, and Advanced Aftermarket products.
• Complete remote pre, post, and diagnostic scans for all makes and models, identifying faults and error messages.
• Explain technical diagnoses and repairs to non-mechanical individuals, including employees, clients, and insurance customers.

Requirements

• Two to three years of car dealership experience OR experience in an aftermarket repair facility as an Automotive Technician.
• OEM scan tool and/or aftermarket scan tool experience and knowledge.
• Proficient in identifying faults, error messages, and modules.
• Strong automotive mechanical and electrical diagnosis, problem-solving, and repair experience.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers at all levels.
• Must have or obtain company-designated certifications (ASE, I-Car, MECP) within 6 months.
• Current, valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
• Ability to create invoices and reports for services rendered.
• Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office.

Work Environment

This job may operate inside automotive repair shop environments that may be cold, hot, noisy, wet, and have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently, primarily from knee to shoulder heights.
• Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet.
• Requires standing, stooping, and kneeling for extended periods.
• Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.
• Ability to drive for lengthy periods for pick-up and delivery.

Travel

Some travel within the assigned geographic area is expected.
